PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably producing a catalyst excellent in mechanical strength, catalytic activity and yield, the catalyst obtained by the method, and a method for producing unsaturated aldehyde and unsaturated carboxylic acid by using the catalyst.;SOLUTION: The method for producing the catalyst for producing unsaturated aldehyde and unsaturated carboxylic acid, as a producing method for the catalyst, comprises: a raw material mixing step of mixing starting materials of catalyst component elements with one another; a drying step of heat-treating a mixture of the obtained starting materials or the like to obtain a dried product; a crushing step of crushing the obtained dried product; a compacting step of compacting the obtained crushed product; and a firing step of firing the obtained compact. At least one of the mixture of the starting materials, the dried product, the crushed product or the compact, which are easy to generate variations of catalytic performance and are treated respectively at the drying step, the crushing step, the compacting step, and the firing step, is divided into two or more portions and the divided portion is treated separately.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT
