In an assembling process or packaging process of the ordered appliance, the appliance or its packaging is provided with access information that indicates how to access the digital product information. The appliance can display the access information. A product information system supports accessing of the digital product information about the appliance by a buyer or product information recipient based on the access information. The product information system allows access to the digital product information via the Internet.
