The present invention relates to an electrical connection device which is provided for the connection of an electrical conductor to an electrical assembly, wherein the connection device has a spring box with a contact spring and a contact area opposite to the contact spring as well as a holding means that is displaceable from a basic state, in which the electric conductor may be inserted into the spring box, to an assembly state, wherein the contact spring touches and tightens the electrical conductor in the spring box, wherein the retaining means in the basic state is displaceable disposed between the contact area and the contact spring. The present invention further relates to a method for connecting an electrical conductor to the electrical connection device according to the invention.
