abstract “downhole measurement set, method of measuring radiation emitted by downward geological formations, computer-implemented method to facilitate downhole measurement, and system to facilitate reliable measurement and analysis of radiation emitted by geological formations adjacent to a wellbore ”an improved gamma controller health detection assembly to facilitate reliable down-hole measurement of naturally occurring radiation is disclosed. The gamma controller assembly includes one or more gamma sensors, a microcontroller, memory, and input / output ports, among other components. Gamma sensors detect radiation and output pulses that are received by the microcontroller. The sensor data can be checked, selected and averaged by the microcontroller, and sent up-hole to another microcontroller or computer which can then additionally process, communicate and display the data. Sensor data can be calculated and stored in memory or stored as independent values for memory. The gamma controller health detection set can be configured to execute algorithms that detect if one or more gamma sensors appear to be malfunctioning or previously malfunctioning.
