The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a material treated with adsorbent properties, the method comprising heating a base material which is a waste product comprising organic material to form a heat-treated material.The invention also relates to adsorbent material produced or can be produced by the method, and uses of the same. The method additionally refers to processes in which the refinement process results in the production of residual current and uses of the material treated formed therein.
