Techniques for wireless communication are described. One method includes generating a cubs channel signaler signal on a wireless device, wherein a cubs waveform is based at least in part on an uplink transmission programmed by the wireless device; and transmitting the cubs via the wireless device over an unlicensed radio spectrum band to occupy the unlicensed radio spectrum band prior to scheduled uplink transmission.
