The invention is related to a method for improving security of an official document or a label, and to said official document and label. The method comprises steps of creating a multi-layer graphical protective mark consisting of a first graphical element on the first layer and a second graphical element on the second layer, at least one of the first and the second elements being partially or completely transparent, wherein the first graphical element is contained in the area of the first layer, and the second graphical element is contained in the area of the second layer. As the second layer is joined to the first layer, the first graphical element and the second graphical element are overlapped providing a multi-layer graphical protective mark. The multi-layer graphical protective mark is joined to an official document or a label. A multi-layer graphical signature is provided by applying the first random graphical element on the first layer to the second graphical element on the second layer, the elements being partially or completely transparent.
