According to this invention, there is provided a novel herbal formulation for the prevention and management of neuropsychiatric cardiovascular complications among menopausal women and a process of preparation thereof, comprising of (i) preparing a hydro- methanolic extract of at least one plant selected from Dioscroea bulbifera, Terminalia arjuna, Bambusa arundinacea, and Withania somnifera at 600-70°C, maintaining the pH of the solution between 5-7, (ii) separating the active compound chromatographically and (iii) subjecting the active compounds to the step of molecular characterization. Further, according to this invention there is provided a process for the preparation of novel herbal formulation comprising of preparing hydro-methanolic extract of Dioscorea bulbifera (Varahi), Terminalia arjuna (Arjuna), Bambusa arundinacea (Vansh) and Withaina somnifera (Ashwagandha) by using water (aqueous) and methanol in the ratio of 50:50 at a temperature of 60°-70°C and maintaining pH of solution between 5-7, separating the active compound chromatographically of each plant material (extract) by using TLC, HPLC and HPTLC separation of the molecules of plant extract by using GCMS, LCMS and 2D NMR.
