ALBUMIN MICROSPHERES AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

The present invention discloses a method of producing a large quantity of uniformly spherical albumin microspheres having an average particle diameter of about 500 to 1500 micro meter. The albumin microspheres are produced by emulsifying an aqueous phase consisting of solubilized albumin and organic phase consisting of chloroform with simultaneous drop wise addition of silver nitrate, which initiates cross-linking and yielding of spherical albumin microsphere particles. The albumin microsphere particles thus formed are stabilized by coating with chitosan molecules. The albumin microspheres thus produced are collected, washed and used for various applications including biological and photovoltaic applications.
