MULTIMODALITY MEDICAL IMAGE FUSION IN DISEASE DIAGNOSIS

ABSTRACT The present invention isdirected to a method and apparatus of multimodality . medical image fusion. The invention includes a method and apparatus to fuse together various medical imaging techniques like MRI, CT, PET, SPECT, X- Ray, Ultrasound etc. using a Genetic functionproviding a fused image which has better spatial and spectral information compared to source images. A single modality of medical image cannot provide comprehensive and accurate information. Therefore, it is necessary to combine more than one modality of images into a single image to obtain relevant and better information. The final fused image is displayed one high resolution display device having a high speed processing system. The system is connected to a movable arm allowing the specialist to diagnose at their own-convenience. The fused image derived from multimodality medical images is validated using subjective and objective metrics.
