ABSTRACT A method for determining a potential compound for inhibition of H5N1 virus comprises providing plurality of compounds suspected to having neuraminidase inhibitor activity, modeling and docking each of the plurality of the compounds with a target binding site of a protein, ranking the docked compounds by goodness of fit, selecting the best fit compounds and performing experimental trails to determine their inhibitory activity against H5N1 virus. In one embodiment, the target binding site of the protein is derived from Influenza A virus such that the protein active site is defined within 20… for docking with the plurality of the compounds. The potential compounds that are acting against H5N1 virus comprises at least one of Epicatechin Gallate, Rosmarinic Acid, 1,8-dihydroxy-3,5-dimethoxyxanthone, Theobromine and Cianidanol which are used in a drug formulation to inhibit neuraminidase protein activity.
