The present invention relates to an automatic musical instrument for flamenco percussion, which comprises: at least one percussion instrument; at least one striking element; and a machine which automates the operation of the instrument and comprises a mechanism for distributing movement, the mechanism including a programmer and a distributor of the encoded movement. Additionally, the automatic musical instrument comprises means for selecting programs, means for displaying the selected program, and means for controlling the striking elements of the automatic musical instrument. The programmer encodes in the distributor the movement for the continuous percussion of at least one element of the group formed by: the flamenco measures; the cross-rhythms of said measures; the variants of the hand clapping that accompanies the singing and the extended sections of footwork of the dance of the different flamenco song forms; and the variants of the extended sections of footwork of the dance of the different flamenco song forms. The invention can be used in artistic creation and in education, among other sectors of economic activity.
