A process for removing volatile substances from a mass processable polymer, comprising: passing a mass processable polymer through a first devolatilizer; passing said mass processable polymer from said first devolatilizer to a second devolatilizer having a first manifold, a first distribution nozzle, a second collector and a second distribution nozzle contained therein, including: passing said processable polymer into dough through said first distribution nozzle, and in said first manifold; passing said mass processable polymer from said first manifold to said second distribution nozzle, being introduced into said second manifold; said first and second distribution nozzles having a number of distribution openings formed therein to distribute a mass processable polymer flow therethrough, wherein a first devolatilization chamber comprises a first volume on said first manifold, and a second devolatilization chamber comprises a second volume on said second manifold, and said first and second devolatilization chambers have one or more vapor elimination ducts formed therein to allow the removal of volatile substances; wherein said first and second devolatilization chambers are partially separated by an inner wall; and wherein said inner wall is common to both said first and second devolatilization chambers, and said wall includes a baffle partition.
