Use of a compound containing tellurium in the preparation of a medicament for the treatment of a condition in which the inhibition of the interleukin-1β converting enzyme is beneficial, said compound containing trichloro tellurium (dioxyethylene-O, O ') ammonium telurate (AS101) and said condition being selected from the group consisting of scleroderma, scarring, aging, atopic dermatitis, metastatic melanoma, Kaposi's sarcoma and burns.
