Partitioning of frequency resources for the transmission of control signals and data signals in SC-FDMA communications systems

A procedure for assigning, in a Node B, a frequency resource for transmission in the uplink of a control signal in a communication system, the procedure comprising: assigning a first frequency resource for transmission of an indication signal channel quality, CQI, at each edge of an operating bandwidth; assign a second frequency resource for the transmission of an acknowledgment signal between the first frequency resource and a third frequency resource in the operating bandwidth; and allocating the third frequency resource for transmission of an uplink data signal in the middle part of the operating bandwidth, in which the CQI signal is transmitted periodically, and the acknowledgment signal is transmitted in response to the transmission of a downlink data signal.
