A method for producing a shaped sheet metal component and, at least in areas, hardened, particularly a sheet steel component (15), with at least one perforation (16) produced therein, in which method an elementary piece ( 13) is heated to the formation temperature, subsequently formed into a tool (1) and then hardened, at least by areas, by a corresponding tempering, wherein said at least one perforation (16) in the elementary piece ( 13) occurs during the course of a die-cutting process before hardening the elementary part (13), characterized in that the metal part (14) separated from the elementary part (13) by die-cutting is fed back into the perforation (16 ), remains therein for the duration of the tempering process and is only ejected during or after removing the steel sheet component (15) from the tool (1), in which it is held during tempering.
