Plant stem are bundles of cellulose nanofibers with a diameter ranging between10 to 70nm and lengths of thousands of nanometers. The mechanical performance of thecellulose nanofibers is comparable to other engineering materials such asglass fibers,carbon fibers etc. In this invention a novel process has been developed todispersecellulosic microfibres and nanofibres in solid phase into a molten plasticmatrix or in alow viscosity water-based resin system in aqueous phase.Invention relates to manufacturing Bio-nanocomposites of high performance bydispersing micro-and nano-cellulosic fibres into plastic matrix usingconventional plasticprocessing equipment. This invention also overcomes one unique challenge ofbio-nanocompositeprocessing, which is to make them commercially viable by surfacemodifying cellulosic micro-and nano-fibres derived from renewable resources.
