REFINER PLATE FIXTURES FOR QUICK REPLACEMENT, AND METHODS AND ASSEMBLIES THEREFOR

The present application discloses and methods andapparatuses to reduce the thickness of a refiner assembly asfinally installed while enabling ease of installation. Theapparatus and methods provide a refiner plate carrier which isadapted to support the plate segment to facilitateinstallation but not to support structurally the refiner platesegment during the refining process. The refiner platecarrier need not be sufficiently strong or sufficientlysecurely mounted to resist the forces during the refiningprocess, these forces being thus taken up by another elementof the refiner assembly. Moreover, the refiner assembly can bemade lighter and easier to handle during installation and theinstalled refiner assembly can be thinner, once installed.
