STARTING DEVICE FOR A COMPETITOR IN A SPORTS COMPETITION

The starting device for a competitor in a sports competition is preferably astarting block device. It includes at least one rear base for fixedly holdingthedevice on a competition surface, at least one detection sensor, such as aforcesensor, connected to an electronic processing circuit, and one or two startingblocks for a competitor's foot. Each block is adjustably mounted on alongitudinal bar. The longitudinal bar is connected to an H-shaped structure,which includes two strips, spaced apart. The ends of the two strips arerigidlyconnected to an immobile portion of the rear base, while a central barconnectsthe two strips. When a force is applied to the block(s), the central bar canbepushed in a preferred direction via the bending of the two strips to activatethesensor, so as to determine a response time at the start of the competition.
