REDUCTION OF CARBON DIOXIDE COUPLED WITH OXIDATION OF WATER USING CATALYSTS

The subject matter provides a process comprising loading a catalyst in a reaction mixture of carbon dioxide and water; and exciting the catalyst and thereby coupling oxidation of water with reduction of carbon dioxide wherein oxidation of water is caused by holes generated by excitation of the catalyst and reduction of carbon dioxide is caused by passing of hydrogen ions gained by the catalyst due to the oxidation of the water and wherein the catalyst used is any one of polyoxometalates and soft-oxometalate. The subject matter also provides oxometalates and process for preparation thereof.
