Provided are a modified cyanide-free gold plating solution and the use thereof as well as a preparation method for hard gold. The modified cyanide-free gold plating solution contains auric sulfite, an organic phosphonate, a hydrophosphate mixed salt, an alkali metal sulfite, an antimonic salt, a selenium salt, a complexing agent, an organic polyamine compound and a polyether compound. The modified cyanide-free gold plating solution provided by the present invention has good stability and a gold article prepared by the modified cyanide-free gold plating solution has a higher hardness and surface brightness and has a great industrial application prospect.
