The invention relates to a method and to an arrangement for preparing cast anodes (1) for use in electrorefining. The arrangement comprises supporting means (9) for hanging a machined cast anode (7) from the lugs (5) so that the blade section (2) of the machined cast anode (7) hangs freely, measuring means (10) for measuring a first horizontal difference in distance between a first surface point of the first surface (3) of the machined cast anode (7) and a first reference point, and calculating means (11) for calculating an offset value in the form of a first offset value of the machined cast anode (7) by using the first horizontal difference.
