The invention relates to a system for separating fine material (magnetite) from coarse material (steel), separating same to be re-used in milling and crushing operations in production lines, and permitting the coarse material (steel) to be separated from the fine material (magnetite) in an efficient and safe manner and a greater speed, thereby increasing production. The system according to the invention can be used in agricultural, timber and aggregates industries, but especially in the mining industry and particularly in milling and crushing operations. Said system includes: a) a funnel-type metal hopper with a capacity of 4m3, having a conical discharge with a discharge chute in the lower part thereof, which is free and mounted on eight oscillating springs positioned on the circumference of the hopper with two on each face, with the hopper being supported by a meccano-type metal structure; b) a high-speed, horizontal, self-supporting transport belt disposed in the discharge of the hopper, which feeds c) a horizontal cylindrical drum, having a crown on the perimeter thereof, driven by a transmission chain and a reduction motor, wherein half moon-shaped plates are disposed inside the drum for propelling the coarse material, linear plates are included on the outside of the drum, disposed elliptically along the drum and separated by an angle of 90° in relation to the circumference thereof; d) a transport belt disposed diagonally in relation to the drum, supported on a mobile structure, with an inclination of 45°, which receives the coarse material detached from the fine material inside the drum; e) a graphic terminal and control and IP connection panel; and f) a software created particularly for controlling the system. The invention also relates to the methods for the installation and assembly of the system for separating coarse material (steel) from fine material (magnetite).
