An alternative determination of a distribution of the load (9) of the tube mill (1) is ensured in that measurement data (M) are determined by means of at least one vibration sensor (17) fastened to the periphery of the grinding drum (7), which measurement data characterize at least one vibration variable (a), the measurement data (M) are transmitted to a stationary receiver (19), which is arranged on the stator (5), and the distribution of the load (9) in the grinding drum (7) is determined on the basis of the calculated vibration variable (a) while taking into account a position of the corotating vibration sensor (17) during the rotation of the grinding drum (7).
