The method for producing a titanium trichloride solution according to one embodiment of the present invention is a method for producing a titanium trichloride solution by reduction of titanium tetrachloride in an electrolytic solution using ion exchange electrolytic reduction. An aqueous solution containing sulfuric acid ions is used as the electrolytic solution on the positive electrode side. The device for producing a titanium trichloride solution according to a different embodiment of the present invention is a device for producing titanium trichloride by electrolytic reduction of titanium tetrachloride in an aqueous solution, and comprises: a positive electrode chamber for storing a positive electrode electrolyte; a negative electrode chamber that is separated from the positive electrode chamber by an ion exchange membrane and is for storing a titanium tetrachloride solution; a positive electrode immersed in the positive electrode electrolyte of the positive electrode chamber; and a negative electrode immersed in the titanium tetrachloride solution of the negative electrode chamber. The positive electrode electrolyte contains sulfuric acid ions.
