A connector (100), a socket (200), a method for providing a signal to the connector (100) by means of the socket (200) and an electronic device. The connector (100) comprises: a body (101); the body (101) has a 180-degree rotationally symmetrical shape with respect to an axis (A) of the body, the axis (A) of the body being parallel to the insertion direction; two detection contacts (1021, 1022) and several signal contacts (103) are arranged on the surface of the body (101); the two detection contacts (1021, 1022) are arranged respectively at symmetrical positions relative to the axis (A) of the body, a diode (104) being electrically connected between the two detection contacts (1021, 1022). By means of the diode (104) electrically connected between the two detection contacts (1021, 1022), the orientation of the connector can be conveniently and accurately detected.
