A method for estimating a maximal oxygen uptake by obtaining personal physiological data and exercise data, comprising the following steps: receive physiological data from a first sensor; a processing module estimates a physical power consumption rate on the basis of the physiological data; the processing module calculates a current total exercise time on the basis of the physical power consumption rate; the processing module estimates an athletic ability on the basis of the current total exercise time; receive exercise data from a second sensor; the processing module calculates kinetic energy consumption on the basis of the exercise data; the processing module estimates an average oxygen uptake on the basis of the kinetic energy consumption; the processing module estimates a maximal oxygen uptake on the basis of the average oxygen uptake and the athletic ability; send the maximal oxygen uptake to a user interface; and display the maximal oxygen uptake on the user interface. Also provided are a method for estimating a next total exercise time, and a method for obtaining a total exercise time in a specific environment by correcting the next total exercise time on the basis of environmental conditions.
