A method (300) according to the invention comprises at least the taking (310) of mosaic-like, overlapping frames of the overall observation area at multiple magnification levels at regular intervals of time; the compiling (320) of the frames from one instant to produce a respective overall image having multiple planes that correspond to the magnification levels, the frames of one plane being oriented to the images of the plane of the next lowest magnification level in each case, and the storing (330) of the overall images.
