The present invention relates to a method of data communication using a secure communication protocol having an improved error control functions for a Wireless Access in Vehicular Environments (WAVE) system and an apparatus thereof. In a method of data communication using a non-connection-oriented protocol, the method of data communication according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises the following steps of: a transmission terminal fragmenting data to be transmitted in accordance with a maximum transmission unit (MTU) of the non-connection-oriented protocol, and assigning serial numbers to the fragmented data in a sequential manner; and the transmission terminal transmitting the fragmented data to a reception terminal along the serial numbers in a sequential manner, and the reception terminal controlling transmission of the data through an automatic repeat request (ARQ) type.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
