The present invention provides a medical image segmenting apparatus comprising a display part, a user input part, an image expanding part and an image segmenting part. The display part displays a three-dimensional medical image. The user input part generates a two-dimensional segmentation target image where an interesting area and a background area to be segmented are selected by a user from the displayed three-dimensional medical image. The image expanding part expands the two-dimensional segmentation target image into a three-dimensional image. The image segmenting part segments the interesting area and the background area from the three-dimensional segmentation target image generated by the image expanding part to generate a three-dimensional output image. According to the present invention, since the user directly inputs the interesting area and the background area to be segmented, segmentation of an interesting part desired by the user, not image segmentation regarding a specific area such as a bone, a liver, a lug or the like, can be implemented. In this case, the user has no need to select a two-dimensional segmentation target image corresponding to a three-dimensional image many times through the image expanding part such that input by the user can be minimized, thereby obtaining an advantage to output a final segmentation result with fewer inputs.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2017
