Provided are an image processing system for obtaining a real-time ultra high definition image and providing a preview and a method thereof. An image obtaining apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a memory in which input image data, compression data, and preview image data are stored, a controller which generates the compression data by compressing the input image data, and an interface which transmits the preview image data to a server. Accordingly, a high definition image is obtained in real time and transmitted to the server and a preview image is transmitted to the server without a loss at the same time.
