The present invention relates to a B-pillar for an automobile body. The B-pillar for an automobile body comprises: an inner panel (7) made of a sheet metal material; and a multi-component outer panel (8) connected to the inner panel (7). The outer panel (8) includes a lower formed part (9) made of a sheet metal material and an upper formed part (10) made of fiber reinforced plastic. The two formed parts (9, 10) are arranged along an overlap region (12) to overlap each other and are connected to each other such that the lower formed part (9) protrudes from the upper formed part (10) beyond the upper formed part (10) beyond the overlap region (12) in a first longitudinal extension direction (X_u) of the B-pillar and such that the upper formed part (10) protrudes from the lower formed part (9) beyond the overlap region (12) in a second longitudinal extension direction (X_o) of the B-pillar. Also, the present invention relates to a process for producing a B-pillar.
