The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for classifying power consumption based home appliances using deep learning, which can efficiently classify appliances in use by analyzing power data collected in a customer by applying deep learning. The apparatus includes a household appliance classification model generation module using an RNN for encoding the power consumption information data of a collected customer, learning a household appliance classification model, and generating the household appliance classification model; and a home appliance classification module for collecting and encoding the power consumption data currently in use and classifying and outputting a home appliance by using the home appliance model classification model generated by the home appliance model classification model generation module.
