The goal of this study was to determine whether the combination of TRIAC, DHEA or triiodothyro acetic acid (TRIAC) and dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), compared with placebo alone, on corticosteroid induced effects on human collagen synthesis The effect is to investigate. Six healthy male applicants aged 40-65 participated. Four sites of abdominal skin were pretreated with Betamethasone valerate cream for 3 weeks. The same site was then treated with TRIAC, DHEA, TRIAC + DHEA and one of the placebo alternatives in the same cream vehicle for two weeks. Thereafter, the suction vesicle was evacuated from each of these sites by means of a vacuum pump. Blister fluid from each site was collected and frozen until analysis. Analysis of the amino terminal propeptide of human type I procollagen (PINP) in inhaled blister fluid was performed using a commercially available Orion Diagnostics kit. This study has for the first time shown that the combination of TRIAC and DHEA can effectively stimulate collagen synthesis in skin pretreated with betamethasone valerate as demonstrated by the increase in PINP and that this compound is more effective than TRIAC or DHEA alone . This combination can be used to effectively treat skin atrophy in corticosteroid-induced skin atrophy. It can also be used to treat skin atrophy and other skin atrophy due to other conditions such as sun-damaged skin. Another area of interest would be the use of TRIAC and DHEA in combination with potent corticosteroids to prevent corticosteroid induced skin atrophy. If this compound is still effective in the treatment of eczema and psoriasis without the risk of skin atrophy, this compound may be a major breakthrough for the use of potent topical corticosteroids.
