The present invention discloses a background modeling method for an input image. The method includes a step of dividing an input image frame into a boundary region and an inner region and encoding the input image frame into a local fine pattern; a step of generating a pixel-by-pixel background model of the local fine pattern for a continuous image frame, a step of generating a probability map by using the generated background model and the local fine pattern of the input image frame; and a step of detecting a foreground based on the probability map.
