The present invention relates to an osa-miR444a.4 gene which regulates the root growth and development of a plant, and its use. The present invention has confirmed that the expression of the target gene OsMADS25 is regulated by osa-miR444a.4, particularly osa-miR444a 0.0 OsMADS25. / RTI Thus, it is evident that the inhibition of osa-miR444a.4 expression can increase the expression of OsMADS25, resulting in an increase in the growth and development of rice root. This suggests that the regulation of the expression of OsMADS25 by the microRNA, osa-miR444a.4, will play an important role in nitrogen metabolism and uptake in the root, and is therefore very useful in the related industry based on its potential application in the improvement of rice traits.
