PATIENT-SIDE SURGEON INTERFACE FOR A MINIMALLY INVASIVE TELEOPERATED SURGICAL INSTRUMENT

The patient side pseudo-interface provides enhanced capabilities in using a minimally invasive remote control surgical system. The patient's pseudo-interface has components in the surgical sterile field. These components allow the physician to control the remote control suture instrument in a sterile surgical field. The patient's pseudo-interface allows the physician to remain in the sterile operating room adjacent to the patient undergoing surgery. Controlling a minimally invasive suture instrument in a sterile surgical field allows minimally invasive surgery combined with direct view by the physician. The proximity to the patient allows the physician to control the remote control dependent surgical instrument alongside the control of a manual control device such as a laparoscopic device. In addition, the physician may control at least one proxy visual in the course of supervising the other physician using the patient pseudo-interface within the sterile surgical field.
