An apparatus, system and method for improving the strength of a thin glass member of an electronic device are disclosed. In one embodiment, the glass member can be enhanced in strength using multiple coarse chemical treatments. The degree of hardening of the glass member can be further increased by the multi-stage chemical treatment. In one embodiment, the glass member can be applied to a glass cover for a housing of an electronic device.;
