The present invention relates to a remote meter reading system, and more specifically, to a long range wide area network (LoRaWAN) based-remote meter reading system configured to transmit and receive meter data corresponding to a value of a meter based on a LoRaWAN and having a remote indicator additionally installed to correspond to a remote collector, the remote indicator performing transmission/reception of data with respect to the remote collector arranged inside a meter box by using a LoRaWAN based-nonstandard protocol and performing transmission/reception of data with respect to a LoRaWAN network server through a LoRaWAN gateway by using a LoRaWAN based-standard protocol, thereby resolving a difficulty of one hop communication between the remote collector arranged inside the meter box and the LoRaWAN gateway and allowing a communication distance between the remote collector and the LoRaWAN gateway to be actually extended. According to the present invention, the remote meter reading system comprises the remote collector, the remote indicator and a LoRaWAN application server. The remote collector is installed inside the meter box to read a value of a meter per cycle or whenever requested. The remote indicator is installed outside the meter box to correspond to the remote collector, receives the value of the meter from the remote collector by using a LoRaWAN based-nonstandard protocol to be displayed, and transmits LoRaWAN data including the value of the meter to the LoRaWAN network server through the LoRaWAN gateway by using a LoRaWAN based-standard protocol. The LoRaWAN application server receives the LoRaWAN data transmitted to the LoRaWAN network server and stores and manages the LoRaWAN data.
