1. A method of automated surface treatment, in particular grinding, of a profiled structural element in the form of a profiled large structural element, in particular a rotor blade, a wind power installation, using a processing device having a movable portal, a robotics system with a control system and a working head processing tool having stages: - the movement of the movable portal in the form of a moving trolley is in principle free of mechanical restriction along the profiled the surface of the profiled structural element; - feeding the processing tool substantially transverse to the profiled surface of the profiled structural element by means of a feeding robotics driven between the movable trolley and the processing tool; - surface treatment of the large structural element with a processing tool, while using the control system movement movement of the movable portal and the feed movement of the processing tool with by the power of supplying robotics in accordance with the model of the profiled surface of the profiled structural element, in this case, several strokes of surface treatment of a large structural element are performed. 2. The method according to claim 1, characterized in that the wear of the processing tool between the first and second processing steps is checked.
