The invention proposes a clock mechanism comprising at least one energy source (1, 2), a first gear train (3), a second gear train (4), a tourbillon cage (20) kinematically connected to the first gear train (3). and carrying an escapement (18) and a regulating member (19), a driving wheel kinematically connected to the second wheel (4) and arranged to directly or indirectly drive the exhaust (18), and a selection device (33, 35) to select between at least a first operating mode where the first gear (3) rotates and the second gear (4) is stopped and a second operating mode where the second gear (4) rotates and the first gear (3) stopped. In the first mode of operation, the tourbillon cage rotates and the mechanism functions as a classic tourbillon movement. In the second mode of operation, the vortex cage is stopped and the mechanism functions as a classic vortex-free movement.
