A method for correcting the heat-induced displacement of a workpiece (5) with respect to a cutting edges position using a feed spindle by estimating the amount of the thermally induced displacement based on a detected temperature which is obtained by detecting the temperature of each component of a mechanical machining tool and of the coordinate data of the cutting edges position within a predetermined time interval, characterized in that the method comprises the steps of:– Presetting of the coordinate data xw at a fixedly adjusted position of the workpiece (5) on a table (4);– Determining the amount of the displacement of the fixed position of the workpiece (5) in the case of a current cutting edges position based on the detected temperature, the coordinate data of the cutting edges position and the coordinate data xw of the fixed position of the workpiece (5);– Calculating the difference in the coordinate data between the fixed position of the workpiece (5) and of the cutting edges position;– Determining an amount of the displacement of the workpiece (5) between its fixed position and the cutting edges position based on the detected temperature and the difference in the coordinate data between the fixed position of the workpiece (5) and of the cutting edges position, and calculating a sum for each value of the displacement, in order to determine an estimated value as well as to correct a thermally-caused displacement with the use of a nc - unit (14) on the basis of the estimate.
