The invention describes a device for controlling the longitudinal guidance of a vehicle designed for at least partially automated driving. The vehicle comprises at least one operating element for controlling the longitudinal guidance by a driver, wherein the at least one operating element can be locked within predefined position limits as a function of a variable representing the degree of automation of the drive of the vehicle and of a first condition. The locking of the operating element can be canceled depending on the degree of automation of the driving of the vehicle representing size and at least a second condition.
