METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE PRESENCE OF A PARASITIC TREMATODE OR ASSOCIATED INFECTION BY DETECTING AT LEAST ONE VAL PROTEIN OR ANTIBODY DIRECTED AGAINST AT LEAST ONE VAL PROTEIN
METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE PRESENCE OF A PARASITIC TREMATODE OR ASSOCIATED INFECTION BY DETECTING AT LEAST ONE VAL PROTEIN OR ANTIBODY DIRECTED AGAINST AT LEAST ONE VAL PROTEIN
The present invention relates to a method for determining the presence of a parasitic trematode, preferably of the genus Schistosoma, in a mammal, and in particular, in a human being, the method comprising the following successive steps: - having a sample biological detection of said mammal, - detecting in the biological sample the possible presence of at least one VAL protein ("Venom-Allergen-Like") of said parasitic trematode or at least one antibody directed against at least one VAL protein of said trematode parasitic, - deduce the presence or absence of said target parasitic trematode in said mammal, and a kit for determining the presence of said parasitic trematode. The present invention also relates to a method of diagnosing an infection caused by a parasitic trematode, preferably of the genus Schistosoma in a mammal, and a kit for diagnosing an infection caused by said parasitic trematode.
