The present invention provides an analysis bag 10, 20 to receive a biological sample to be implemented in microbial culture. The analysis bag comprises a culture broth powder 14, 24a, 24b. The powder may be arranged in a separate compartment 15, which is delineated by a porous membrane divider 16. Alternatively, the powder may be contained within a separate pouch, which may also contain a porous membrane 26a 26b, or a water-soluble or rupturable wall. The individual pouches are also described, along with methods of their manufacture. Also described are methods of manufacturing the analysis bag, and culture processes using said bag.
