Provided are a supported catalyst including: a support body which is formed by a catalyst composition being supported by a carrier, in which the catalyst composition contains an oxide of copper, and the carrier contains αAl2O3·βB2O3 (α and β each represent a positive number); and a hydrogen production method for producing hydrogen from ammonia, including: an ammonia combustion step of reacting ammonia with oxygen in the presence of the supported catalyst; and an ammonia decomposition step of decomposing the ammonia into hydrogen and nitrogen by utilizing heat generated by the reaction between the ammonia and the oxygen.
