The present invention relates to a method of optimizing decomposition of an asynchronous signal (104) produced by a light sensor. The method comprises: /a/ obtaining a decomposition (301) of said signal on a decomposition basis; /b1 receiving the asynchronous signal comprising at least one event (302), the at least one event having been produced by the sensor between the first instant and a second later instant; /c/ determining (303a) a first value of said pixel (x(1, c)) for the first instant; /d/ determining (303b) a second value of said pixel (ẋ(l, c)) for the second instant; /e/ determining an update of the decomposition (308) obtained as a function of said decomposition obtained, of a difference between the first value and of the second value and of a term (E t,c ) dependent on coordinates of said pixel (1,c) and the decomposition basis of said transformation.
