INTEGRATED CALCINATION-CARBONATION SYSTEM AND CLOSED-LOOP CO2 CYCLE FOR THERMOCHEMICAL ENERGY STORAGE AND ELECTRICAL ENERGY GENERATION

The object of the invention is the integration of a carbonation-calcination cycle (calcium looping) with a closed power loop through which CO₂ or mixtures of CO₂ with other gases evolve in order to provide thermochemical storage for power plants and industrial processes with heat available at medium temperature (higher than 550°C). This is applicable, among others, to solar plants and industrial processes. With the developed system, operating yields higher than 46% are achieved with a storage capacity with a significant long-term lag between loading and unloading.
