PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further reduce the amount of ozone generated.;SOLUTION: A charging device comprises: a charging mechanism that applies, while superimposing, a DC voltage and an AC voltage to a charged body to generate discharge between the charged body and a photoreceptor, and thereby charging the photoreceptor; and voltage control means that controls the waveform of the AC voltage.
