PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an operator to carry out an error releasing operation as appropriate in a valuable medium processing device that processes a valuable medium.SOLUTION: This valuable medium processing device (currency processing device 1) is provided with: a processing unit (paper money processor 10, coin processor 110) that processes a valuable medium; an error detection unit (sensor 309) that detects the occurrence of an error; a storage unit (error releasing database 311) that stores a procedure for releasing the error; an erroneous operation detection unit (sensor 309) that detects execution of an erroneous operation with a procedure different from the procedure stored in the storage unit while an operator is releasing the error detected by the detection unit; and a control unit (error releasing control unit 301) that outputs the execution of the erroneous operation through an output unit (operation display unit 302, warning unit 308, and communication interface unit 306) after the erroneous operation detection unit has detected the erroneous operation.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
